Swine Flu and other random thoughts

Have been watching the news for once and can't help but laugh at the timing on this one! A potential pandemic right in the heart of California... 3 days before we fly out! Of course, why not huh?! LOL
At this stage we are keeping an eye on the news and WHO (Who I trust more than the scaremongering news stations) and not panicking but I can't help but giggle at the fact that we NEVER go away and 3 days out from our first big family trip out of the country and this comes up, who would have thunk it huh?
So, fingers crossed for us that we make it in and out okay. I am only worried because of the close proximity to Mexico and the fact that there have been reported cases in San Diego, right where we will be staying but it is too late to back out now and from all the research I have done I am only mildly concerned rather than the full fledged panic that seems to be encouraged on the news.
I just hope they don't close borders, we can't afford to stay in the US too long, the dollar is too low! LOL

Anyways, almost organised, the big kids bags are packed and Makenzie's is getting there. Mine and Steve's not so much because we don't have enough clothes, we wouldn't have anything to wear all week if we packed all the stuff now! LOL

Been checking out the Brisbane Airport website trying to figure out the transfers between the domestic and international airports but we have just under 6 hours stop over and they have a train that QANTAS pays the ticket for so should work out well. Only concern I ahve is the fact that we leave Perth late at night and get to Brisbane early so the kids won't have too much sleep
but then we have 6 hours to wait till the next leg so I hope they don't want to sleep to bad in the airport. I am taking the sling for Makenzie so at least she can nap but the big kids might have to get comfy on a seat somewhere. Should be okay, I think everything is worse in my head than it will be in real life so that can only be a good thing right?! LOL

Steve is home tonight as well, which is fantastic, they weren't due till tomorrow arvo but the plane was delayed till tomorrow night so he went and sweet-talked the receptionist at the ticket office and she got him on the flight tonight instead :D SO it means we can get a good start on this tomorrow instead of half the day being wasted going to the airport and back. it is twice as annoying doing it because he comes in at around 1pm so it means we only have a couple of hours in the morning after I drop the kids then an hour in the afternoon before we have to pick up the kids so this way it means thing can get done tomorrow :D Horray!

Makenzie has been sleeping well the last couple of nights, she has had a feed earlier than normal so at actual bedtime she comes up for a cuddle and falls asleep and last night she stayed there till 6ish this morning which was LOVELY!!! No nap this afternoon and then tonight after Rugby and Flute she ate dinner and then came up and snuggled and two minutes later she was asleep! I had still been eating my dinner so she was naked (It is the done thing for her to strip as soon as we walk in the door! LOL) but it is chilly tonight so I ahd to get her dressed, she was so fast asleep that she didn't even wake while I got her PJ's on so fingers crossed she has another good night tonight!

Anyways, better run, plenty to do, no time to do it! LOL
