Let's change the calender...okay?!

I was talking to my friend the other day and we both agreed that New Year's sucks the big one...anyone else with us?!

No? Well, let me explain...

For me, I love love love Christmas, if I could bottle the feel of Christmas I would be drinking it all year, it is just so...good. You have all this build-up and excitement, especially with the kids, all the planning and preparing and shopping and wrapping and card writing (Unless you are slack like me and only give them to people who give to you first! LMAO) and despite the fact we live through Christmas in Summer it still feels all warm and cosy and like nothing could go wrong.

Then the day after Boxing Day it is like someone has flicked the magic switch to off because the kids are fighting, there is a pigsty of a house to clean up, everyone is hot and cranky rather than warm and cosy, the bin is overflowing with all that wrapping paper you spent hours doing and reality is back again.

I guess it isn't New Year's fault so much that I hate it, it is just that he was placed on the wrong day of the year! LOL I mean, here we are coming down from this warm and cosy, nothing can go wrong feeling and wham there is another day that expects to be celebrated. It sucks even more for my friend as her birthday is in the week between Christmas and New Year too so she stays on the high a little longer and crashes even harder.

So, I vote for a change of dates for New Years, perhaps March 1st can be the New Year, do you think? I guess we could have it on February 1st but Steve's birthday is on Jan. 30 and Jessie is Feb. 16 so it might be too much excitement for two weeks...what do you think? Are my friend and I the only weird ones or is it a universal thing no-one admits to? Getting drunk might numb that feeling I guess...One time, when I become a drinker, I will test that theory and let you know :P
