Before I begin this post I just want to say this:
Although she seem to think I am a cold, heartless bitch etc. and I am happy for her to think that way I would just like to extend my congratulations to Renae on her wedding, I wish both you and Chris a long and happy marriage and all the happiness in the world. May your lives be blessed for as long as you are together, hoping the happiness of your wedding day can continue for a long time.
Now on with the show :P
We had to go to the local courthouse on Friday to get some documents signed by the JP and wow, what an eyeopener it was... and not in a good way :( Steve and I have never been to court, never got more than a speeding fine, I think the only time I ahve even been at the cop shop was when I had to report a car accident so to walk into the courthouse and be confronted but such sad lives was really a shock. It has been on my mind since then but I haven't really be able to get it into words properly till now.
The JP wasn't there when we arrived so we had to wait as there had been a mix up with the JP on roster and the JP's office is just outside the children's court. There was a family sitting waiting to go in, approximately 12-15 members of the one family, from a little boy (Who was so gorgeous with the best laugh) of about 2 up to grandmother of about 70ish. While I have no idea what they were doing there and I guess I did make certain assumptions it just made me so sad to see so many generations of the one family and not one of them has any idea how to better themselves. That 2yo boy will be there when he is 20 and 30 and probably even 70 because of a failing system which does not make those less fortunate people strive to improve for themselves or their families. Not because they don't want to but because they don't know how to, not because they are too lazy or too drunk or too anything else but simply because they don't have the resources available to them to know how to improve and that to me is so so sad. My heart truely breaks to think of a family of people, a race of people who are not appreciated enough or valued enough to be helped, instead they are herded through children's court only to land in adult court later on.
Honestly, the whole thing hurts my heart so badly, I wish there was something we as a society could do to make a difference in every child's life.
Though when I think about it it is not just that family, even the good ones need a little help sometimes.
