Fire, Puppy Love and My Baby...PART 2

I thought I would get back sooner to continue on with this post but apparently not! 2011 is shaping up to be a flat out year!!!
Anyways, I left the last post after the fire, it ended up being a mammoth post about a couple of things but only one thing from the title so I will aim to get the last post finished in this one! hehe
On the 16th of February, Jessie turned 10! Two days before that was the biggest day so far in Jessie's life (According to her at least! hehe).
I don't know if I have mentioned before but since she was 3 years old Jessie has been "betrothed" to a gorgeous little boy, W, they met at swimming lessons and after 2 lessons Jess declared she was in love and was going to marry W one day. W's mum and I became friends and the kids have been great friends ever since, they are now in Year 5 together at school, and all the kids know that W and Jess are going to get married.
So, all was going well until D came on the scene. D is a lovely boy who goes to school with the kids and also plays in Jessie's tee-ball team. At the beginning of last year Jess was having some trouble with some girls in her class picking on her and D came to her rescue and has been a good friend to her since then. It turns out D, who has the cutest stutter I have heard in a long while, has a major crush on Jess.
Not a problem there, Jess knew about D's crush and was fine with it and remained friends with him even when her friends picked on her about him.
Soooooo, over the summer, Jessie has developed her first "non-W" crush...on D! They saw each other a bit over summer with tee-ball but apparently something changed for Jess between December and February when school started again because she got just like I remember being at her age in the throws of puppy love.
On one of the first couple of days back to school after the fires, I walk the kids across the busy road near their school (They then walk up to a cross-walk and into school from there) and as we reached the footpath D was walking up. Jess blushed the brightest I have ever seen her, as did D, who then said "Hi Jess" which she replied to with a just as hurried "Hi D" and they walked together blushing at each other up to the cross-walk.
The week after the fires was Valentine's Day and jokingly on the Saturday before I asked the kids who they were going to give cards to. We don't normal do cards or anything (I am lucky if Steve even rings that day! LOL) so was really surprised when both big kids said they wanted to give cards out. Hamish said he NEEDED to give his to T (The coach's daughter, from tee-ball) and then was even more surprised when Jessie said she wanted to give one to both W AND D!
Sunday afternoon was spend in a cloud of glitter glue and red card and it was decided that Nayd and I would do a "Cupid Run" when the kids were at school and drop the cards at all 3 kids house. We dropped off W's fine then went to find D's house but the address Jessie thought he had told her was wrong! SO we went to T's house dropped hers off and then had to wait for Jessie to come home to break the news.
When she got home I told her "You have one of two choices - either I can slip it in his tee-ball bag and it is done or you can make a new one (As this one was signed "Your secret Admirer") and give it to him in person"
She said she would like for me to put it in his bag then a few minutes later came back and said she wanted to make a new one because she didn't want D to think it was a joke or that someone was being mean to him (He gets picked on a lot because of the stutter :-(  ) so she made a new one and signed her name.
When we got to tee-ball, Jessie was so nervous, she was blushing furiously and didn't know where to look when D got there. BUT she was so super brave, she went up to him and said Happy Valentines Day and gave him her card. He thanked her, ran to his car and threw the card in.
You could just about hear Jessie's heart breaking, she was certain he didn't like her any more, but she was positively glowing after training when she got in the car and told me what had happened and I told her about a certain young man getting into his car after training who was heard to tell his older sister "Give me back my card NOW!!!" So, looks like romance is still in the air! hehe
Since then, the blushing has slowed but D has been seen to walk Jess to the car on a few occasions so she is still happy! hehehe
Anyways, am still not going to get this finished, so will have to finish in Part 3! LOL
